Joyce Robinson was the sister of Alice Lowther and later married John Robinson. Joyce lost her only child and could not have any further children. However, Joyce was an adopted nan to many of Alice's grandchildren in later life. Alice and Joyce lived together for 21 years after both becoming widows in 1979 and 1980. Joyce was a great support to us all, and therefore all of Alice's family saw her as another nan.
